And it goes on and on and on which is what happens when one has four daughters. This past weekend it was all about Jodie and today was Holly, Zoë’s and Abby’s turn to revel in the mommy-daughter time with me.

Winter Formal is coming and it is to be our first formal here under the Big Top because big sister Holly just didn’t do those kind of school events back when she was in high school…it was all part of the rebellion I guess. But she seemed to be as excited as I am and came along to offer her opinion and advice. Four sarcastic, related females in the Junior dress department at Macy’s made for a lot of fun. We found some potential yeses and some definite nos which can be viewed here and, after some discussion, giggles and teasing, settled on two lovely, elegant dresses that compliment my lovely young daughters so well. We also had fun checking out some dresses in the WTH? category. That would be the category where one wonders what the hell was the designer thinking and who the hell would wear that dress. Think 80s style bridesmaid dresses…OMG, people, they are baaaa-aaack! Zoë actually tried one on just for the fun of it. I am pretty sure I attended a wedding in 1988 where the bridesmaids wore that particular one. Thank goodness I wasn’t one of the bridesmaids.
Then it was off to a maternity shop because my 18 weeks pregnant daughter is growing and hungry all the time.

Really, have you ever seen a more adorable pregnant lady?
The coming attraction is clearly growing. While Holly and I checked the good, the bad and the WTH? in maternity fashion, her sisters roamed the mall. I think the maternity store sales lady scared them off when she asked if they needed help finding a nursing bra. I must say that overall maternity fashion is so much more flattering than it was in my gestating days. I like that it celebrates a pregnant woman’s shape and her growing baby bump. Still it is challenging to find things that my edgy daughter would like to wear. Maybe Hot Topic, Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters needs to consider expanding into maternity fashions. Still she found four tops that looked absolutely adorable on her.
After a lunch (because we have to feed the “Inner Craving”), it was off to Babys R Us to set up a baby registry for this wonderful coming attraction. We don’t know the sex just yet, but she was anxious to get started on a registry knowing there is a lot of STUFF a baby needs and maybe doesn’t need. It’s a start. Once she knows the sex I am sure it will grow just like she is growing. Of course everyone is invited to the baby shower! It will be a big party, I promise.
It was a fun day to be a mother and daughters. One of those days where stories and laughter is shared and memories are made.
I totally understand the whole dress thing. When we were Homecoming dress shopping in the fall, some of those dresses were just downright hideous. YUCK. I’m totally dreading the shopping of Prom dresses soon.
Your daughter is a cute pregnant mom-to-be. The fashions are definately much nicer than when I wore them. Plus all the new “gadgets” for babies now a days! Where was all that cool and convenient stuff when our kids were babies???
Your girls ALL look lovely… Holly is simply beautiful with the baby belly… and you must tell me what colors she is leaning towards, so I can look into making a blanket
And after she finds out the sex, I could make it something simply adorable
I never had to do the formal dress thing because 1) I never went to a prom and I wouldn’t have worn a dress if I did.
2) My only daughter (21) was like your daughter, anti-establishment and wouldn’t be caught dead at a formal.
Glad you gals got to have a fun day of it!

Well, I am 19 weeks pregnant and I don’t believe I look nearly as adorable as your daughter! She is one CUTE preggo! I just feel like a lump…lol
Great website you have here! It’s an interesting read.
Your daughter should register at JC Penny’s. I did it because they have so much great stuff and every one I know can find the mall.
My daughter came along with me to register for our baby registry. I think it was good for her to help pick out the items so she feels apart of everything!
