Sister. She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she’s the reason you wish you were an only child.
~ Barbara Alpert

To celebrate Zoë’s birthday, the girls decided to make good on a promise they made to each other about 5 years ago or so…to get matching tattoos.”Promise” is now inscribed on their pinkies.I like this way better than their original idea they had years ago…the Power Puff Girls.
Oh the promises and secrets they have sworn to with those pinkies! They think I don’t know; but I do. I might not know of all the promises and secrets that they have sworn to keep but I do understand that connection. I have watched my girls grow and intertwine in such a way that nothing can break those binds that connect them forever.

Wait!
I have four daughters and yet there are only three inked.
Alas, Jodie is only 15 so she could not join in on this sister act…for now. Truth be told, she isn’t sure if she wants a tattoo. She felt the same way about getting her ears pierced too until she decided that she wanted to dance competitively and had to get her ears pierced as everyone on her team wears matching earrings. Time will only tell if she changes her mind about this too. Nevertheless, ink or no, these girls truly are one another’s mirrors, witnesses, partners, teachers, defense attorneys, press agents, personal shrinks…and the reason that they will never be only children.
I am so happy that I have two girls. There is a special bond that sisters have, not that I would know, I have a brother, but I see it in other sister pairs I know, and I am so happy I get to be their mom.
OH MY GOSH, how I love this post!!! Your girls are beautiful and, raising 3 girls of my own, what an awesome tribute to sisterhood (heart is squishing!!!)
Love hearing how tight all of your girls are and love the idea of the shared tattoo. They sure have grown up to be beauties. That was a great quote; I shared it with my sister.
My sons have matching tattoos also. The bond they have with each other no one will ever break.
