…are Dance Moms!

As we prepared to leave Bubba Gumps on the Santa Monica Pier and continue to explore and play, there they all were…THE Dance Moms…yes, Jodie totally squeeeeed because, she is her mother’s daughter. At first glance the kids looked tired, some of the moms looked tired too. I recognized it as dance competition exhaustion. Sure enough they were in town for a dance competition and convention and were taking a much needed afternoon off from dance workshops, competing and filming. I’m sure the last thing most of them wanted was the small crowd circling around them as they waited to be seated for lunch. Still, we had to say hello…

“Holly!”, I called out.

She turned around and smiled brightly at us. And as the rest of her party began to walk into the restaurant, she stayed behind for just a few minutes, talking to Jodie about dance competitions, talking a little bit about my childhood hometown and even introducing herself to Daniel and Zoë. As we thanked her for saying hello she suggested getting a picture with Jodie.

Jodie was squeeeing all over again.

And she asked Daniel to join them in the picture.

We thanked her again and wished her a good day. She in turn graciously said it was nice meeting us, addressing each of my children by name.

Yeah I was impressed because she was so gracious, kind and normal…just another dance mom. And if that wasn’t enough for her to continue to be my favorite Dance Mom, it turns out she is good friends with a dear blogging friend, Kim…who is just an all around awesome person even to people she doesn’t know.

It is indeed a small world…after all.
