fixed again #2

Spring has most definitely sprung here in the Central Valley! Actually Winter never really came which only makes the severe drought here in California all the more real. With Spring comes the warmer temps and time to break out the warm weather fashions. Since my stuck-in-a-rut closet has been edited there is definitely room for another fix from Stitch Fix.

Oh happy day!

Stitch Fix is the first fashion retailer to blend expert styling, proprietary technology and unique product to deliver a shopping experience that is truly personalized for you. Simply fill out the Stitch Fix Style Profile and our personal stylists will handpick a selection of five clothing items and accessories unique to your taste, budget and lifestyle. You can buy what you like and return the rest!

How does it work?

  1. Fill out your Style Profile

Begin by filling out the Style Profile. This helps us understand your size, style, shape, budget and lifestyle. Completing your profile should only take about 10 minutes.

  2. Pick the date you’d like to receive your shipment

We’ll send you a selection of five clothing items and accessories handpicked by personal stylists on the date you choose. At the time your stylist selects your items, you will be charged a $20 styling fee. That $20 will be applied toward anything you keep from your shipment.

  3. Try everything on in the comfort of your home

We encourage you to try on everything our personal stylists have picked for you because you just never know what will look great on! Create new outfits by pairing what’s in your shipment with the items that are already in your closet.

  4. Buy what you like and return the rest

    a. Take three days to decide what you’ll purchase and what you’d like to send back. You’re only charged for these items when you tell

us what you’re keeping and returning.

    b. Check out by logging in to your account to pay for those items you want to keep. The $20 styling fee will be applied toward any items you purchase. If you buy all five items, we’ll give you 25% off the entire purchase!

    c. Simply return the items you don’t want in our prepaid mailing bag and drop it at any USPS mailbox. Stitch Fix clients enjoy free shipping both ways as a benefit of using our service!

I couldn’t wait to try on what Alicia had chosen for me especially when I saw that she had been looking at what I was pinning on Pinterest.

Those floral jeans!

What can I say, I loved, loved, loved the Dear John Niki Cropped Skinny Jean!

Others seemed to as well…Zelda, the barista at Starbucks, three of my kids, Daniel’s endocrinologist, a random stranger while Daniel and I were getting lunch after his endocrinology check-up at Valley Children’s. The skinny jeans fit well and were very comfortable especially during the two hour drive to Valley Children’s in Madera yesterday. I’m definitely keeping these!

Up next, Market & Spruce Aleah V-Neck Heathered Dolman Sleeve Shirt.

Hmmm…Love the color but honestly, that’s about it. I spent some time tugging and adjusting as every movement revealed bra straps and the overall shape just seemed to add thickness to the middle. Sorry, but I am just not a dolman sleeve kind of girl and I gave up the one shoulder Flashdance look around the time I gave up perms. This will go back.

Next, the Skies Are Blue Samira Cargo Vest.

I think I pinned something similar to this but this vest was just too much. Too many ties which were extra long and proved to be delightful cat toys for Zelda. Too many pockets…I know, it’s a CARGO vest. The collar was weird and just would not lay right and the hood just added even more unnecessary bulk. Sorry, no. Sending this one back.

Next is the Loveappella Whitnee Button Neck Striped Shift Dress.

Pay no attention to the blinding white legs.

I really liked this super comfortable, body-hugging dress. I could see this as a perfect dress to pair with a cool scarf and denim jacket for a day look as well as a date night with my darling husband. I imagine that he would appreciate the way it hugs every curve too. I admit that at this moment I am on the fence with this one. It’s warm here in the Central Valley and this would most likely be spending the Spring and Summer just hanging in my closet. I do like it but I’m thinking that I probably will send it back for now. I need pieces that will work now and through the summer.

Finally, there is the Bria Coil Beads Necklace.

So pretty! I’m keeping.

So now I will send back the selections that did not work along with comments on what worked and did not work with this month’s Fix. This is only my second fix. I’m learning very quickly the importance of communicating with your Stitch Fix stylist more about my style, shape and lifestyle. All in all though her selections prove that we are off to a great start. I can’t wait to see what will come with the next Fix.

  1. I sent back some long sleeve shirts also and told them that even working inside with air-conditioning you still have to go outside some time in AZ during the Spring/Summer. I didn’t want to pay for clothes that were going to live in my closet for 6 months.

    • great minds think alike, Kathy! I’m imagining the stylists will soon figure it out as long as we communicate these things. Stitch Fix is based in San Francisco and they definitely need long sleeves and layers in the summer there.
