Ever since Daniel was a baby and we were told that he was profoundly hearing impaired, we tried to learn ASL and we failed…BIG TIME. I’m not sure why it was such a struggle for us all, but it was. It was all good. The hearing tests performed on Daniel in the NICU were WRONG. I already knew that because the baby did need to be quiet and ideally sleeping during the test. Daniel was SCREAMING and the tech was vigorously patting his bottom hoping to calm him. Of course the tech blew me off when I questioned this as if I was just any mommy who would have no clue how to administer a proper ALGO or BAER hearing screen.

I was right. The kid had absolutely NO hearing loss.

Still we struggled communicating so we embraced Baby Signs…and Daniel thought we were absolutely nuts. But that has not stopped us from trying to teach Hazel..ha-ha…and now Fallon. Like Daniel and her big sister, she thinks we are all crazy signing for milk or more or done or eat…

Oh wait…”EAT?” you have something for me to eat?!?

I am all about having something yummy to eat at Mima’s house. Here you go. Now give me something to eat.

My family can be so mean and selfish sometimes!

They come around me with bottles in their hands…bottles that they WILL NOT share with me.

I am all about bottles!!

You people are unbelievably cruel telling me it isn’t for babies…

LIES! LIES! Lies, I tell you!

You all should be ashamed of yourselves, breaking my heart like this.

She’s either overwhelmingly frustrated with the fact that her Mima has slacked off in a big time way with the Daily Fallon or she is loving the fresh scent of the newly cleaned carpet or she is absolutely OVER all the campaigning, campaign ads and pundits opinions…or perhaps it is all three that has brought Fallon to her knees planting her face into the carpet.

Personally for me, and I am willing to bet almost everyone else, this long, tortuous road to Election Day wore me out. I agree with Tom Brokaw, this process is much too lengthy. Our long national nightmare is indeed almost over.

Thank gawd!!!

Hang in there Fallon. Mommy, Papa, Mima and your Aunties have all voted with your best interests in mind and soon, very soon it will be over…until the next Presidential campaign which will likely fire up again in 2014. Yee!!!

Our little monster turned 11 months this week. She has 5 teeth, has started attempting to stand on her own, scales the stairs in under 2 minutes, says the words “kitty” “doggy” “daddy” “momma” “hey” and “no”. She LOVES feeding herself table food and the baths that ultimately follow each meal. Which is why she is stripped down to just a diaper here.

Dinner is done and Fallon is ready to take off…with her Mima’s Epiphanie bag…her favorite because it holds everything…all of Mima’s stuff.

She politely declines lending a hand with the dinner dishes…and the mess (ahem) all over the floor and she takes off.

This is a girl on the go.

Later family!
